Itinerary
January 24 - February 4, 2027
NOTE: Itinerary details are still being finalized.
International arrival into the Jomo Kenyatta Nairobi Airport and settle into our hotel.
Spend time with rescued baby elephants (some just a few months old) at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and hand feed Rothschild giraffes at the Giraffe Center. Then enjoy lunch at Tin Roof Café in a outdoor café space and shopping from local artisans.
Step into the Oasis of Hope at Ruben Centre, a bustling campus within an informal settlement in the heart of Nairobi. After meeting the learners, and a guided tour through the surrounding community, we will spend some focused time within areas of your choice where you will connect with the children and programs as we learn firsthand the impact of Ruben Centre, and its partnership with Brighton Jones. Following an immersive day at the Centre, we will enjoy dinner with the leadership team of Ruben Centre to get to know their community-building approaches.
On our third full day in Nairobi, we will tour local jewelry factory Kazuri (small and beautiful in Swahili) Beads. Kazuri Beads’ mission is to provide and sustain employment opportunity for disadvantaged Kenyans, especially single mothers. Also on this day, we will enjoy a hike at the Karura Forest with local conservationists learning about reforestation.
January 28 Watch the landscape change from city to savannah on our 2 hour ride from Nairobi to Kajiado. We will spend the day with strong young Maasai women who are braving a new approach to their life and future. Meet the visionary founder of Humanitarian Efforts for the Learning of the Girl Child in Africa, Priscilla, and hear her story of being called into a life of service for young women in Maasailand. After this fun day together with the HELGA students, we will settle into the Brighton Jones Guest House and enjoy a traditional Kenyan meal prepared by our chef.
In the morning we’ll visit the Giraffe Centre and then take a short domestic flight into the Maasai Mara to begin our Safari.
Enjoy Kenya’s wildlife and vast landscape while on Safari in the Maasai Mara for a few days of animals, reflection, and beauty. Meet a Maasai Warrior and learn of the respectful Maasai culture of gentle strength and quiet bravery. You have the option to go on a sunrise Hot Air Balloon Safari where you get a unique and peaceful viewpoint and end with a champagne bush breakfast!
Settle into a luxury beach hotel on the eastern coast of Kenya. Enjoy water activities, relaxation and learn about local history. We will end our beach trip with a group sunset dhow (boat) cruise to connect as a group and reflect on our incredible journey together.
After a full and final last day together, we will take late night departures from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to return home full of new learnings, understandings, and reflections.
