A Letter From GRACE Nanana

Below is a letter containing updates from our friends at GRACE Nanana rescue school for girls in Kajiado, Kenya.

Hi Everyone,

We believe that you are all well and keeping safe. We are good and grateful for each passing day. The COVID-19 situation has subsided, but last week a variant of the virus was detected in Kenya. We pray that all will be well.

We want to share with you the recent activities and projects that we have undertaken. We appreciate the Brighton Jones Richer Life Foundation community for the continued support that you are giving us and especially to the many girls who are benefitting from this noble gesture.

We were recently able to rehabilitate the borehole from the crowdfunding campaign you held for us in March. This project included:

  • Labor for water piping, trenching, 8 water points

  • Purchase materials (drip irrigation kits and pipes)

  • Wall construction next to the toilets

We also established an access point next to the gate to help our neighbors obtain water as needed for free. The availability of water has increased the productivity of our school farm and our pupils are eating fresh greens at least three times per week.

The schools opened after a 5-day mid-term break on June 7th. Third term will continue until the next break, from July 19-26th, when they will all begin the next grades.

We are currently hosting 6 recently graduated girls who are hoping to join secondary school on July 26th as Form 1s. We are trying to look for local sponsorship for them, and if you know of any interested partners, please do let us know. These sponsorships range from $600-$800 for a year of tuition.

Thanks for your continued support.

Stay safe and healthy.

Kind regards,

Priscilla, Darius, and Staff of GRACE Nanana
